January retreats – for beginners & more experienced

These retreats offer an opportunity to gain experience of different Buddhist meditation practices. Sessions include chanted prayers and guided meditations and are particularly suited to those with some experience of meditation and Buddhism.

In January we are offering three retreats suitable for different levels

Retreats are held at Kadampa Meditation Centre Reading, 9 Bath Road, Reading, RG1 6HH

Stages of the path – guided retreat

Saturday 13  – Monday 15 January 

Lamrim (‘Stages of the Path’) instructions are the essence of all Buddha’s teachings. By meditating on them, we can move our mind to deeper and deeper levels of wisdom, peace and compassion and gain an increasing ability to help others. Every session will include chanted prayers, a short talk and a guided meditation.

Everybody welcome.

Please aim to arrive at least 5 minutes before the start of each session, to allow time to settle your mind.

Mahamudra – guided retreat

Saturday 20  – Monday 22 January 

On this retreat we will emphasise training in the preliminary practices of the Oral Instructions of the Mahamudra. Sessions will include prayers to prepare our mind and meditation.

The first session each day will include a talk and the meditations will be guided in this session.

Everyone is welcome to this more in-depth retreat and it is most suitable to those who have some experience of Buddhism and meditation.

Day 1 – Refuge and Bodhichitta
Day 2 – Purification practice
Day 3 – Mandala Offering

Vajrayogini – unguided retreat

Saturday 27  – Monday 29 January 

Each day there will be three ungioded sessions on the practice of Vajrayogini, based on the sadhana, Dakini Yoga.

This retreat is for those who have received the Vajrayogini empowerment and who wish to deepen their familiarity with the practice and give their practice a renewed boost of inspiration.

Please note: Practitioners should bring their own Dakini Yoga sadhana to this retreat.
