Becoming your own protector
Learn how to create stable peace, joy and freedom in the mind with Buddhist nun Gen Nyingpo
Buddha said, “You are your own protector, You are your own enemy.”
We often try to protect ourselves by constantly changing and improving our external situation, but we still experience suffering and unhappiness.
We can find stable inner protection from our problems and fears by developing the mental strength of spiritual refuge. Meditation is at the heart of Buddhism and protects us from our ‘delusions’ – unpeaceful, uncontrolled states of mind such as anger and ignorance by instead concentrating on peaceful, positive states of mind such as patience, love and wisdom.
Drawing inspiration from Buddha’s teachings, example, and living presence in the world, as well as from other spiritual practitioners, we can learn to build our own unshakeable inner refuge and protection through our spiritual practice.
Members can attend for free, with lunch available for just £3.50.
