Embracing Mortality with Wisdom and Peace
Death is one of the greatest mysteries of human existence. Yet, rather than being a source of fear, Buddhist wisdom teaches that understanding mortality can be profoundly liberating. By contemplating the impermanent nature of life, we can cultivate inner peace, deepen our sense of purpose, and transform how we live each day.
Join us for a powerful three-week course inspired by Joyful Path of Good Fortune by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. This course will guide you through Buddhist insights on death and rebirth, offering practical wisdom to help you live with greater clarity, fearlessness, and meaning.
Course Overview
Week 1: The Purpose and Benefits of Contemplating Death
Why think about death? Far from being morbid, reflecting on our mortality helps us break free from distractions, focus on what truly matters, and live with greater intention. This session explores how contemplating death leads to a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
Week 2: Meditating on death using nine ways of reasoning
Powerful nine-step reasoning to gain a deep and profound realisation of our mortality. When we meditate using these nine ways of reasoning, we are doing the analytical meditations that cause us to come to three firm resolutions:
I must practise Dharma.
I must practise Dharma now.
I must practise Dharma purely.
Week 3: Rebirth, Continuity, and Liberation
What happens after death? This session delves into Buddhist teachings on rebirth and karma, providing insights into the continuity of consciousness and the potential for liberation.
